Why was Oodles started?

So, using experience gained from more than a decade working in online travel, we decided to create a ground-breaking website that would help frequent travellers minimise business expenses, maximise frequent flyer point benefits and offer all the convenience of a car rental express pickup service.

How does express pickup service work?

Oodles co-founder Steve Sherlock is a typical frequent traveller. He has preferred membership with Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Thrifty, and his membership numbers are stored in the Oodles VIP Check-in system for seamless use during the booking process.

When it comes time to pick up a car, Steve�s paperwork is already prepared and at selected major airports he goes directly to his cars after viewing his name and rental bay number on the board. He shows his license at the boom gate and is on his way.

This VIP service does not cost you any extra, in fact you often get free upgrades and discounted rates when you connect a frequent flyer membership account.

Online travel and car rental industry knowledge

Oodles founders, Steve and Des Sherlock, have helped pioneer online car rental in Australia and the UK through their launch of several award-winning travel sites over the past decade.

Oodles also counts Mario Salvo, the former owner of Europcar Australia, and Dennis Jeffees, former owner of the Europcar franchise for Western Australia, among its key investors.

Mario started Delta car rentals in 1988 with 100 second-hand cars, building to a fleet of 5,000 vehicles in 2000 when he absorbed Delta into his launch franchise of the Europcar brand in Australia. He sold the Europcar franchise in a management-private equity buyout late 2004 and is now involved in property development and other business interests.

Dennis contributes more than 20 years� of car rental insight and expertise to the company.

How does Oodles make money?

We do, however, charge rental companies a small fee in exchange for providing such a cost-effective way for them to sell their cars.

Please be aware that Oodles operates an unbiased display system, which means prices are sorted and presented by the lowest price in each class (rental companies are shown left to right on a rotation basis).

The prices on Oodles are also guaranteed to never be higher than on a rental company�s own website.
